At Babyzone, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of families with young children. To achieve this, research and impact tracking are at the heart of everything we do.
By understanding the challenges families face and measuring the outcomes of our programmes, we ensure our services are evidence-based, effective, and responsive to real needs.
This approach allows us to continuously improve, demonstrate accountability, and deliver measurable benefits to the communities we serve, empowering every child to reach their full potential.
Our research and impact activities include:
- Tracking Family Demographics: We monitor attendance, postcode data, and socio-economic segmentation using Acorn CACI to identify target families.
- Partner Programme Impact: Data from partners (e.g., breastfeeding clinics) on attendance, feedback, and sessions helps measure programme effectiveness.
- Parent Feedback: Through parent panels, suggestion boxes, and surveys (200 parents interviewed via NPC), we assess parenting support, child development, safety, and engagement.
- Case Studies: We collect family stories and quotes to highlight Babyzone's impact, building trust and showcasing individual journeys.
- Research & Impact Advisory Board: We are forming a board of 5-7 academic experts to guide research and track impact, while staying informed on key studies (e.g., school readiness).
- Academic Collaboration: Ongoing research with the University of Cambridge focuses on infant brain development and programme evaluation.

Babyzone's Annual National Survey 2024
Our early childhoods, the time from pregnancy to five, fundamentally shape our whole lives. (Royal Foundation, 2024)
80% of neural connections, which influence our thinking, behaviour, resilience, and response to stress, are formed by age 2. (Johnson & Smith, 2016)
Primary caregivers play the most crucial role, but they do not exist in a vacuum and their capacity and ability are inextricably linked with their own experiences when they were growing up and with the support they receive, as adults, from the communities around them (Royal Foundation, 2021)
