We were thrilled to host a gathering of leaders in the Early Years sector at Babyzone Hammersmith & Fulham. The day was truly inspiring, filled with meaningful collaboration, reflection, and forward-thinking discussions.
A key highlight was hearing from Neil Leitch, CEO of Early Years Alliance, who shared his powerful thoughts on what defines a successful child in the early years. "I was recently asked by a journalist what a successful child looks like when they leave a nursery or childminder, and I found myself saying that it is not just about whether they can recite the alphabet, count to 100, or name 5 planets. A successful child for me is someone who is kind and empathetic and will go on in life to be kind and empathetic to other people. As I sit here today, this at Babyzone is the environment that shapes those qualities. A massive compliment to Babyzone because these are the critical years."
Neil’s words perfectly captured the essence of what Babyzone strives to create: an environment that fosters kindness and empathy, which are essential qualities for lifelong success.
We were also joined by influential figures and supporters, including our trustees, who made the event even more special. We are grateful for their continued commitment and support.
The event featured a series of impactful discussions, from leadership talks to panel debates. Here’s a brief rundown of what took place:
Charles Mindenhall, Co-Founder and Chair of Babyzone, took the stage to speak about the importance of Early Years education and Babyzone’s plans for growth. His vision for the future of the charity set the tone for the day and highlighted the critical role we all play in shaping a brighter future for children.
Jessica Barnaschone, Head of Babyzone Hammersmith & Fulham and Croydon, shared personal stories and experiences from her incredible team, showing how Babyzone’s work positively impacts the families we support. It was inspiring to hear from those on the frontlines of our mission.
Gavin Evans, CEO of Future Youth Zone, spoke about the importance of strengthening communities through organisations like Babyzone. His insights on community engagement reinforced the idea that we are all part of a larger effort to create better opportunities for children and families.
Finally, a panel discussion led by Lara Mindenhall, co-founder of Babyzone, wrapped up the morning. Panellists discussed key challenges in the sector, the parent-infant bond, and what more can be done to support families with children under five. The conversation underscored the importance of continued collaboration and shared solutions in addressing the needs of families.
A central theme throughout the day was the power of partnerships and collaboration. It was heartening to see so many passionate individuals come together to celebrate Babyzone’s growth and to look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. We are grateful to all who joined us and continue to support our work in strengthening the Early Years sector.
This event was a reminder of the crucial role that the Early Years play in shaping the future, and we are excited about the journey ahead as we continue to support families and children in need.
