We were delighted to welcome a diverse group of potential partners to Wigan Youth Zone on Wednesday, 26th March, for an insightful breakfast meeting. This gathering set the stage for the exciting launch of our 7th Babyzone in the coming weeks. Representatives from health visiting services, Family Hubs, Library Services, Children’s Social Care, and independent practitioners joined the conversation to explore how Babyzone can best support families in the local community.

Addressing Key Challenges

Discussions highlighted the pressing difficulties many families face, including financial hardship, poverty, domestic abuse, and substance misuse. Attendees also raised concerns about the growing prevalence of mental health struggles, which are exacerbated by funding limitations in healthcare.

While challenges exist, the meeting fostered an optimistic outlook on overcoming them. Partners emphasised the importance of building trust with families to help them feel confident seeking help without fear of judgement. By addressing stigma and isolation with empathy, we can create an environment where families feel supported. With a focus on proactive, sensitive support, Babyzone aims to provide a welcoming space where families can thrive, knowing they have the resources they need.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to further collaboration with our partners in Wigan, strengthening the support available to families and creating a welcoming, inclusive space for young children to thrive.
