Babyzone Preston opened on 30 September 2026 at Vault Youth Zone on Tithebarn Street. It is our 14th hub and our fifth in the North West, joining Blackburn, Chorley, Warrington and Wigan.
The hub runs every Wednesday during term time, from 9.30am to 2.30pm, for families with children aged 0 to 5. Everything at Babyzone is free.
## A full house on day one
On our first day we welcomed 96 families, 228 people in total. Vault was busy from the moment the doors opened.
That is down to Lauren Hargreaves, Head of Babyzone Preston, and her team. They spent months building relationships across the city so that families knew we were coming.
One mum told us her two-year-old had never been to a formal class before. It was the first time they had been able to play and bond together in a group with other parents. Moments like this are why we open hubs in the communities that need them most.
## Opened by the Mayor of Preston
The Mayor of Preston, Cllr Nweeda Khan, cut the ribbon to officially open the hub. She was joined by more than 15 local partner organisations.
Babyzone works because of the organisations already doing brilliant work for families. In Preston, families can now meet them all under one roof, including:
- Lancashire County Council Children and Families Wellbeing Service, Best Start in Life and Oral Health teams
- Preston City Council
- Lancashire Libraries and The Harris
- Home-Start Central Lancashire
- Community Gateway, Caritas Care and Hope Prevails Preston
- Places for People Millbank, Community Futures and The Sahara Project
- Department for Work and Pensions
- DanceSyndrome and TippyToes BabyBank
- Intrahealth School Aged Immunisation Service
- NHS Health Visiting and Perinatal Pelvic Health teams
## Thank you to Vault Youth Zone and OnSide
Thank you to Tim Jacques, Natalie Dugdale, Mel Killilea, Gaby Ingham, Michael Wilkinson and the whole team at Vault Youth Zone and OnSide for welcoming us into your home and making this possible.
This is just the beginning for Preston. Welcome to the Babyzone family.
