Babyzone Chorley opens its doors

Babyzone officially opened its eleventh hub in Chorley on Tuesday 9 June 2026, welcoming 161 people through the doors at Inspire Youth Zone, Chapel Street on its very first day.

The free weekly sessions, running every Tuesday during term time from 9:30am to 2:30pm, offer families with children aged 0–5 a space to play, learn and connect with their community.

A landmark opening

Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Debra Platt, cut the ribbon to officially open the hub. She praised Inspire Youth Zone as an impressive building, adding that everything Babyzone delivers within it "is going to turn out really well. There's plenty of room, plenty of quiet spaces, plenty of busy spaces, plenty of football spaces, everything."

Speaking at the opening, Babyzone CEO George Looker said: "Babyzone exists because we know potential is spread evenly across the country, but opportunity is not. If we can help drive some opportunity for you to develop and grow with your children, then that's success for us."

George also paid tribute to the Chorley team: "Carragh, Liz, Lauren and all the rest of the people in the yellow t-shirts have done an amazing job standing up this Babyzone hub so quickly and with such a great range of class leaders and professionals here to support families every single week."

What's on offer

Families can drop in without booking and take part in a range of free classes throughout the day, including Baby Sensory, Toddler Sense, Little Kickers, baby massage and baby yoga. For those not attending a class, there is soft play, a reading area, a construction play area and a craft table available throughout the session.

Local partner organisations are also on hand every week to offer support across health, housing, finances and more, including Family Hubs, Home-Start Central Lancashire, NHS Talking Therapies, Lancashire Mind, Citizens Advice and DanceSyndrome.

Part of a growing network

Chorley is the eleventh Babyzone hub to open across the UK, as the charity continues to expand its reach into new communities. The Chorley hub has been made possible with the support of Chorley Council.

Babyzone is free for all families with children aged 0–5. No booking or referral is needed.
